This is Basil (Ch. Kai-La-Sha Justa Jigolo). He is a son of Tom-Tru (Ger.Ch. Kai-La-Sha Tom-Tru), and has inherited Tommy's strong, hard coat and good pigment.  Well constructed and proportioned, and moderate in bone, he is 11 inches tall and 14.75 inches long.  (34% longer than tall) .  I think he exemplifies the true Lhasa expression. His noble but gentle expression comes close to my ideal.  So far I have seen eight of his litters from very different bitches.  Allhe puppies share his beautiful head and expression, his deep pigment, his good front, good topline, and sound rear.   They all have rather refined bone, and are within the desired size range.   Now 16, he has passed the torch as a sire of classic Lhasa Apso type and soundness to his son, "Tank".

This gorgeous red boy is a Basil and Molly son, Ch. Kai-La-Sha Sherman O'Rumtek, aka "Tank".  In his first two litters, 7 out of 8 pups finished their championships owner handled.  He is 11 inches tall, and weighs 17 lbs.  He has proper proportions, and a well constructed front and rear. His head and expression are the ideal I have sought to retain in my breeding - the classic  Lhasa Apso.  And the coat?  To die for!

Here is our latest Tank son, "Tiger" (Kai-La-Sha Rumtek Hold That Tiger).  Tiger is just 12 months old and is pointed.  He has his granddad's beautiful body and head and his grandmothers hard red coat. He is just under 11 inches tall

Here is our young stud dog and Basil son, Kai-La-Sha Soldier of Fortune.  "Gunny" is 10 months old in this photo. Now 3 years old, he is 10 inches at the shoulder, weighing 15 lb., very well constructed and well balanced, with smooth and effortless movement. He already has two very beautiful litters to his credit here in the USA, and several impressive litters in Europe.

Here is one of our our more recent Champion bitches, Ch. Kai-La-Sha Alpenrose , bred by Betty Ingram and Melanie Lapointe. Sire: Sharbo Senge, Dam: Kai-La-Sha Silly 'Nilly. Rosie finished at 17 months, and is now in her summer skivvies". She is more beautiful cut down than she was in coat!

This is "Ivan" one of our exciting young males, pictured here at 4 months of age.  Ivan is typical of the kind of construction I am striving to produce.

And here is Ivan grown up (Ch. Kai-La-Sha Hot to Trot). He is 11 inches tall, and has an exquisite coat, a well constructed body, and smooth, floating movement. He is also a male of gentle and affectionate temperament.

This is "Mousie", AKA Kai-La-Sha Firefly II,

a Rosie daughter, born 8/10/2004, by Nancy Plunkett's Ch.Tabu PA  Courage Under Fire.

Mousie is 9.8 inches tall and weighs 13.5 lb.  She is the mother of two  outstanding litters.

This is a son of Mousie and Basil born June 11, 2006, at age 5 months: Kai-La-Sha Keepsake.  His  litter consisted of 6 pups, 5 of which are expected to "finish" in their respective countries.  "Keeper" and his sibs preserve the personality traits of their father's line: sweet, calm, and affectionate, but with their mother's high spirits and energy. The structure and movement of the entire litter is exceptional. Because of the advanced age of Basil (12) and the outstanding quality of the litter, we have repeated this breeding, and a litter of 5 was born December 16, 2006.

At 27 weeks, 10 inches tall,  13 inches long, (30% longer than tall), with a reverse scissor bite.  I expect his adult height will be about 10.5 inches.

And here is Keeper's and Kissey's son, multiple group placing Casey.

Kai-La-Sha Firebrand, another gorgeous red Maus son.

This pretty boy is shown winning BOB at 13 months of age.  "Brando" is 10.5 inches tall, and has his mother's soundness and athleticism.

And here is Keeper's 14
month old son, completing his championship.

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Gold Standard

This is Ryanna (Ch. Kai-La-Sha Ryanna)

She finished at 17 months of age.  She is 9.5 inches tall.

Introducing Mumta Khanna.  She has been breeding her pure Tibetan strain of Lhasas in Northern India for the past 3 decades.  Her Lhasa Apsos are the true Gompa (Temple) Lhasas from Tibet.  The true Himalayan type!  To see more of her Lhasas please click on this link: MUMTA

This is Ch. Kai-La-Sha Elle, as a 2 year old bitch of Hamilton/Tibetan breeding. She is 24 cm (9.5 in.) tall, and weighs 5.25 kg (12 lb.). She has all the things we want in a Lhasa bitch: a feminine, correct head and expression, a hard straight coat, a well angulated shoulder and straight front legs, a sound well angulated rear, a dense, hard little body, with a flat topline. She also has one of the biggest mouths (LOUD) God ever bestowed on a Lhasa Apso! Needless to say, the neighbors are not among her biggest fans!  Ellie now is retired in Florida.

Kai-La-Sha Tough Cookie
II
as a 3 year old , 10 1/2 inches tall, well built bitch.  She has a wonderful hard, dense coat, and a perfect head and bite.  Cookie has a lovely character as well.  She loves all people, but especially babies, canine and human.

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Dolma ROM*.
Dolma was my first homebred Champion. Born in 1974, she combined all the best features of a Lhasa. She was small - 9.5 inches tall, well made, with a wonderful typey expression, a perfect bite and a hard, beautiful coat. She was the most intelligent dog I have ever had, with a personality that no-one who knew her will ever forget.

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Sharbil Tsam-bo.

Sam, one of Dolma's champion sons by Everglo Rempa carried the same beautiful headpiece and hard coat as his mom.  His coloring, a charcoal and deep red was striking.  He was a beautifully balanced dog with his famous father's smooth movement and proud carriage.

Kai-La-Sha Indian Summer was perhaps the most perfect bitch I have ever bred. She hated the showring, but even so managed to win a few breeds.   Showing her was like pulling teeth.   Even when she did agree to carry her tail,  she always let you know that "this was not my idea!".   She was so incredibly beautiful that the judges tried very hard to give her a chance - sending her around many times to see if she would show well enough to justify putting her up. But Summer had her own agenda - at home - on the sofa!

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Kha-Char , aka Piggy finished at 16 months in this photo.  Piggy, a daughter of Everglo Copper Carol, had a wonderful coat factor which she has passed on to all her descendants. Her pigment was amazing.  Black nose and eye rims, of course, but also black skin, black gums, and black palate.  When she got excited, she had dandruff - black dandruff - which looked quite odd in her milk white coat. She never had face or foot staining either. Her son, Tommy, inherited both his mother's coat and pigment.  Piggy produced 10 puppies in her first litter and 11 in her second litter. (In the dictionery, you will find Piggy's photo next to the word "fecund"!)

Deu.Ch. Kai-La-Sha Tom-Tru:
Born in 1984, Tommy is a son of Piggy and lived till age 17 in France with his adoptive parents Laurent Pindel and Francois Andrzwjewski.  He showed no signs of slowing down, and was still actively breeding and producing well into his teens.  Tommy was a very sound dog, and is notable for throwing his wonderful coat and pigment and excellent fronts down for several generations. Tommy is the sire of our present leading man, Basil.

Ch. Everglo Somethin' was a dog I borrowed from Gloria Fowler.   I took him mainly for his pedigree as he was a son of the wonderful Everglo Rempa.  He was no disappointment as an individual either. He was a solidly built dog with the most beautiful hair I have ever seen.  It was dead straight, and gleamed like embroidery silk. He had a lovely expression, a perfect bite, and a sweet and gentle disposition.

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Honest Injun,
born in 1986, is a champion in a half dozen countries, shown in Europe by my friend Karen Olesen.  Injun, now deceased, was a 10 inch tall well balanced dog, very compact but not lacking in substance. A good mover for his size, Injun had a terrific rear end, as well as a very nice front, and a dead level topline. If I had to fault him, I would say he had a bit too "foxy" a facial expression.  Injun produced Ch. Kai-La-Sha Fresh Paint (Indy) and my own very special, never shown, Amber.  Injun could always be counted on to reproduce his wonderful deep red coat and rich black pigment.

An Injun daughter, "Indy" (Ch.Kai-La-Sha Fresh Paint) was a regal bitch who finished at 18 months. She had her father's soundness, and beautiful movement.

"Pinky" (Kai-La-Sha Pink Peony) was never shown, but was easily one of the best and typiest bitches I ever bred. Pinky was the house pet and could not tolerate other rivals to her territory. She retired with a gentleman of similar dispostion in Arizona.

Ch. Kai-La-Sha Somethin' Regal was a son of Ch. Everglo Somethin'. Charlie was perhaps the best moving dog I have ever seen - for smoothness and length of stride.  Charlie flew over the ground like a whisper - simply floating - he looked like his feet never touched the ground. He had a long nose and a soft coat, but a wonderful willingness to show. No matter how hot, rainy, or cold - Charlie never cared. Personally, I thought he was a bit demented - no sensible dog of mine was ever that happy to show! Charlie is Basil's maternal grandfather.

Once again,  Basil, (Ch. Kai-La-Sha Justa Jigolo). Sired by Ch. Kai-La-Sha Tom-Tru, he finished his US championship at 13 months of age, and was top Lhasa in Austria, 1996.  Je also has his Swedish and Norwegian Ch. titles.  Now 14 years old, looking half his age, Basil is home in the USA.  This dark silver dog is 11 inches tall, has a perfect head and mouth, and a hard textured coat.  He is also a very sweet dog, tolerant of children, puppies and other males as well as bitches.

Kai-La-Sha Reddy for Love
is a male, (in this photo, 7 months old) dark red, well built, 10 1/2 inches tall. Reddy is by Ch. Tall Oaks Enuf's Enuf out of our mahogany red Kai-La-Sha Amber. Reddy now lives with Juha Kares in Finland.  Reddy decided at the age of 8 months that he was "Ready for Love". Cookie, (Kai-La-Sha Tough Cookie II), unbeknownst to me, was in a "silent" heat - no bleeding at all!  Reddy, however, discovered her condition when I let them all out in the garden. These two made good use of the opportunity afforded them by my ignorance and inattention. As expected, on Nov. 6, 1997, Cookie produced 3 red boys and 3 red girls!

Here is the real thing!  Just sent by the Queen of Bhutan to her friends in Switzerland, Moti-Chu is about 7 months old. Note the hard straight coat, characteristic of the true Tibetan Lhasa Apso, and the large very black nose leather. Also notice the rather high earset characteristic of the true Tibetan Lhasa Apso.

And last, but not least . . . Kai-La-Sha Amber with her stolen bagel! Amber was shown once, at 11 years of age. She is the mother of Ivan, and a very sound bitch. We just lost her at age 16.
