My
involvement in Lhasa Apsos began in 1970, when I was fortunate enough
to become acquainted with Norman and Carolyn Herbel through my
friendship with their daughter, Carmen. Having always loved
dogs, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn about Lhasa Apsos
from the ground up, starting with the basic care and grooming of the
breed, studying canine anatomy and movement, and eventually working my
way up to the show and breeding aspect of what would ultimately become
a lifetime commitment.
My husband Jim and I
reside
in south-central Pennsylvania and are still quite active with the Lhasa
Apsos. Tabu PA has produced numerous champions over the years
and is a ROM kennel in its own right. I have been an active
member of the American Lhasa Apso Club for decades and have held a
position on the Board of Directors, established and chaired
ALAC’s Measurement Certification Program for many years, and
most recently served as JEC (Judges Education Coordinator). I authored the book "A New
Owners Guide to Lhasa Apsos" (TFH), as well as the educational CD
“The Lhasa Apso-An In Depth Study of the
Breed”. I have written a number of published
articles and been involved in the presentation of many seminars on the
Lhasa Apso.
In my professional life, I own and
operate a successful pet grooming business. I spend one day a
week working out of a veterinary clinic, another very strong interest
of mine, and for a number of years have enjoyed working with the
professional dog photographers Close Encounters of the Furry Kind.
