Gunny (Kai-La-Sha Soldier of Fortune) is from the 6th generation of selective breeding at Kai-La-Sha. He has been bred for true apso type and solid canine structure. He is a completely "honest" little dog. Gunny is at home temporarily with Marion Radstok in Netherlands. http://www.closetoperfection.nl
Beginning at the top: he has a typey head, well proportioned at 1:2, the narrow skull flattened on top. His eye is almond in shape, dark brown, and medium in size. His nose is large, set on a straight muzzle. His bite is slightly more undershot than reverse scissor.
He has a fairly long arched neck leading into a correctly angulated shoulder, and a moderately short, strong, and level back. His front legs are straight - (but not terrier in type) - with a slight extension at the wrist. The feet point straight forward. His loin is broad and powerfully muscled, with extremely well muscled thighs - both quadriceps and hamstrings. His rear legs are well angulated. He stands 10.25 inches at the shoulder, (26 cm.) and weighs 15 lbs (6.8 kg). His coat is a pale gold overlaid with black sableing, and is profuse and double. The guard coat is harsh in texture and quite straight.
What you see in this photo is unretouched and not "strung up" or stretched out. Gunny is a naturally "solid" and well balanced little dog who looks the same in the backyard without a leash as he does in the show ring.
Gunny is a happy dog who meets and greets strangers with a confident attitude. He is an efficient stud dog who, at only two years of age, has several litters and some pointed, and one Champion offspring to his credit. His father is Am. Swed. Nor. Ch. Kai-La-Sha Justa Jigolo, and his mother Am. Ch. Kai-La-Sha Alpenrose of Bo. His pedigree, although somewhat linebred has a moderate CoI of 9.4, which gives him some measure of prepotency, while allowing him to be safely used within the same line.
We cut Gunny down at 12 months because his profuse coat became unmanageable during the change from puppy to adult. His adult coat is coming in now with correct apso texture, and should be on the ground by Summer 2006.

Gunny was supposed to return home this week, (May 12, 2007) but my friend Karen, took him to a show in Germany, where he won his first German CAC. So we figured we might as well let him stay in Europe and finish his championship there.
My thanks to Marion Radstok, in Netherlands, for conditioning Gunny so beautifully.
Here is Gunny's 11 month old champion son Maestro, at 9 months in this photo.
